In memory of Nina Brekelmans, the Georgetown Running Club, in partnership with the Georgetown Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, is hosting the Nina Brekelmans Memorial Scholarship 5K on March 19, 2016. All proceeds raised from the race will be donated towards the Nina Brekelmans Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Georgetown University and will contribute to preserving Nina's legacy of goodwill and women's empowerment in the Middle East.
Course Information
The 5K course provides an opportunity to tour many highlights of the Georgetown University campus in addition to a stretch of the Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) canal path often frequented by Nina during her time at Georgetown.
The race will start and finish on iconic Copley Lawn. Runners cross campus towards Canal Road, where they follow the sidewalk before looping through a tunnel onto the C&O canal path. The race heads out and back along the path before returning through the tunnel, along Canal Road and back to campus. Runners circle Cooper Field before navigating towards the start/finish line. We regret that the course is neither stroller nor pet friendly, but we appreciate your understanding.
Registration
- $30 (early registration level) available through March 10, 2016
- $35 (late registration level) available from March 11, 2016 through race day

All registration fees contribute to the Nina Brekelmans Scholarship Fund thanks to our presenting sponsor, the Cooper Standard Foundation. Registrants will also receive a custom race t-shirt as part of the entry fee.
